How to utilize your shed to one-up the neighbors on Halloween

As fall rolls around and the Halloween candy hits the shelves in grocery stores, each household must make the inevitable decision on this year’s commitment level to Halloween. Decorating your shed can the perfect way to set your house apart without much effort. Easily transform the outside of your old, run-down shed from an eyesore to an ultimate yard ornament by hanging cobwebs, ghosts and bat decorations. Caution tape and signs like DANGER or KEEP OUT are also cheap ways for highlighting your shed’s haunted vibe.

If instead you own a high quality, aesthetically pleasing shed (perhaps purchased at Rick’s Sheds), Halloween is the perfect opportunity to show it off to the neighbors! Dress up the exterior with classy fall décor like wreaths and pumpkins, and you can even bring out those Christmas lights early!

But decorating your shed’s exterior isn’t the only way to utilize it on Halloween. You can also use it to earn the title of the neighborhood’s favorite trick-or-treating destination. No doubt, big candy bars are a plus. But in the age of technology and shrinking attention spans, kids need bigger and better. It’s time to go all out and claim that title this year: give out candy from your shed!

If your shed is tucked away in your backyard, light a path from the street for trick-or-treaters using jack-o-lanterns or other bright decorations. And if you want to go all out, try adding haunted music and pop-out decorations to scare the walkers along the path.

It may not be as tall a task as you think to clean out your shed in preparation for the trick-or-treaters. If your shed is filled with garden tools and machinery, all the better! Just throw them outside and with a few small tweaks, you’ll have some innovative Halloween decorations:

Laying your garden tools like rakes, hoes, and shovels against the outside of your shed makes for great décor!
